Position Summary:
The Maintenance Tech is responsible maintaining the production flow for day-to-day operations by maintaining a preventative maintenance program. In particular this position is intended to focus on electronics related issues as needed.  Perform facility upkeep and manage day to day operation malfunctions.  
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete work orders from the maintenance tracking system
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronics related issues – PLC, scanners, electronics, scale and other interfaces
  • Meet with Engineering Manager on daily basis to assess problem areas
  • Complete maintenance tasks without production interruption
  • Assist in development of new and more efficient methods
  • Assures all repairs do not compromise food safety
  • Ability to work with all of production and be part of the operations team
  • Serve as the leader of the Food Safety Program for the Maintenance
  • Follow GMPs & good hygiene practices
  • Assures the adherence to all SQF requirements and meeting food safety requirements
  • Ability to do mechanical work 
  • Have some knowledge on operating machinery 
 
Marginal Duties Performed Less Frequently: 
  • Ability to work with outside contractors
  • Assist Maintenance Manager in manufacturing of tools and equipment for production
 
Supervisory Responsibility:
None – this position will not be responsible to supervise any other employees
 
 
 
Qualification Summary: 
  • Strong problem-solving skills following a formal process
  • Self-starter and possess a positive attitude, able to influence others
  • Knowledge of PLC’s, electronics, scale and bar scanners and interfaces
 
Education / Experience Desired:
  • High School diploma at minimum desired
  • Minimum 2-5 years prior experience in food (prefer baking) industry
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience with flow wrappers, depositors, rack ovens and/or cartoners
  • Knowledge of natural products industry a plus
  • Experience and training in PLC’s, electronics, scale and bar scanners and interfaces
  • Working in small teams 
  • Must be familiar with a production environment under FDA and HACCP guidelines
 
 
Language/Mathematical/Reasoning Ability:
  • Must be able to accurately document lot numbers and quantities
  • Must be able to write and speak, both clearly and effectively.
  • Must be comfortable working with numbers
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
 
Supervision Given:
  • This position will report to the maintenance supervisor and maintenance manager
  • The position holder is expected to be able to work with minimal oversight at times, able to confidently handle situations on their own
 
Physical Demands: 
  • Shift length is variable depending on maintenance schedule and other priorities
  • Must be able to operate maintenance tools and equipment 
  • Could be standing for long periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
 
Travel Required:
Very Limited – May be asked to go off-site (locally) for equipment training, safety/food safety training and other short duration items.  No overnight travel expected but may be required in rare circumstances.
